Roppongi Hills Mori Tower is the tallest building in the Roppongi Hills complex, completed in 2003. Its upper floors house two connected cultural spaces: the Mori Art Museum on the 53rd floor and Tokyo City View on the 52nd. The Mori Art Museum focuses on contemporary art from across Asia and the world, with major international exhibitions that run for several months at a time. A combined ticket grants entry to both the museum and the observation deck, making it possible to move between a world-class exhibition and a 360-degree night panorama in a single visit. The museum is open until 22:00 most nights — later than almost any comparable institution in the world — allowing an evening visit that begins with the artwork and ends with the city lights spread below.
Background & history
The Mori Art Museum opened in 2003 alongside the Roppongi Hills development, conceived as a 'city within a city' centred on culture and art rather than offices alone. In its two decades of operation the museum has staged major retrospectives of artists including Ai Weiwei, Lee Ufan, and Yayoi Kusama. In 2026 the Ron Mueck exhibition runs from late April through September 23, 2026, bringing hyperrealist large-scale sculptures together in one space.

How to enjoy it
Arrive in the late afternoon: see the current exhibition while the light outside is still good, then move to the observation deck as the sun sets and the city lights come on. The combined ticket covers both floors. Check the museum's website for any between-exhibition closures — the observation deck stays open even when the museum is dark.
How to actually get there
- Shinjuku Station → Roppongi Station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, ~10 min).
- Roppongi Station Exit 1C → Roppongi Hills Mori Tower (underground walkway + walk, ~5 min).
- Mori Tower lobby → 52F Tokyo City View / 53F Mori Art Museum (lift, ~1 min).
- Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line to Roppongi Station
- Shinjuku Station → (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, bound for Naka-Meguro or Kita-Senju, ~10 min to Roppongi, H04) → Roppongi Station Exit 1C → follow signs for Roppongi Hills → Mori Tower (walk, ~5 min). Total ~15 min.
- Return from Roppongi Station
- From Roppongi Hills, walk back to Roppongi Station and take the Hibiya Line. The museum is open late so you may also use the Toei Oedo Line from Roppongi Station (Oedo line, E23), which provides a different route back. Both run until after midnight.

- Museum and Tokyo City View: generally 10:00–22:00 (last entry 21:30), Tuesdays 10:00–17:00 (last entry 16:30), except Tuesdays that are public holidays. Closed briefly between exhibitions — check the schedule at mori.art.museum.
- Another way
- Toei Oedo Line, Roppongi Station (E23) is also right at the Roppongi Hills complex — useful from Shinjuku or Daikanyama direction.
- After you get off
- Roppongi Station (Hibiya Line) Exit 1C leads underground directly into the Roppongi Hills shopping complex; follow signs for Mori Tower, then take the high-speed lift to 52F/53F.
