A permanent immersive digital art museum where artworks flow between spaces without walls or fixed boundaries, housed in the basement of Azabudai Hills. It opened at this location in February 2024 after the original Odaiba venue closed.
teamLab Borderless reopened in February 2024 at its new home in the basement of Azabudai Hills Garden Plaza B in Minato Ward, after the original venue in Odaiba (which had drawn several million visitors during its six years of operation) closed for redevelopment. The museum's concept is that artworks are not confined to individual rooms but flow and bleed into one another — visitors wander without a set path or map, and the experience changes depending on how the installations respond to other visitors and the time of day. Timed entry tickets are sold online and typically sell out well ahead of time, especially for weekend slots.
Background & history
teamLab, the collective behind the museum, was founded in 2001 and has staged digital art installations globally. The original teamLab Borderless in Odaiba opened in 2018 and drew more than three million visitors in its first year, making it one of the most visited art museums in the world in 2019. The Azabudai Hills iteration, opened in 2024, expands on the original concept in a new space designed around the borderless idea.

How to enjoy it
Book your timed entry ticket online well in advance — weekend and evening slots sell out weeks ahead. The museum is open most days (closed Tuesdays) from around 10:00–21:00. Wear comfortable shoes: the experience involves a lot of walking through the installations. Avoid bringing large bags if possible, as storage may be required.
How to actually get there
- Roppongi Station Exit 1 → walk south ~15 minutes to Azabudai Hills Garden Plaza B (or take Hibiya Line 1 stop to Kamiyacho, Exit 5, ~2 min via underground).
- Enter Garden Plaza B and descend to basement level B1 — the teamLab Borderless entrance is on this floor.
- Show your pre-booked timed ticket at entry (no walk-in admission).
- Roppongi Stn →(walk ~15 min)→ Azabudai Hills
- From Roppongi Station, take Exit 1 (Hibiya Line) and walk south toward Azabudai Hills — about 15 minutes on foot. The Azabudai Hills complex is clearly signed along the walk. Enter Garden Plaza B and go to basement level B1 for the museum entrance. For a shorter walk, take the Hibiya Line one more stop to Kamiyacho Station (H-06) — the museum is about 2 minutes from Exit 5 via an underground passage.
- Return from Kamiyacho or Roppongi Station
- Walk to Kamiyacho Station (Hibiya Line, 2 min from Exit 5) or back to Roppongi Station (Hibiya Line or Toei Oedo Line) for connections to the rest of Tokyo. The Hibiya Line runs directly to Ginza, Akihabara, and Ueno. Trains run frequently until past midnight.

- Timed entry tickets must be purchased in advance online at teamlab.art — walk-in entry is not available. Adult tickets start from approximately 3,800 yen (prices vary by date). IC cards (Suica, PASMO) work on the Hibiya Line. Check the official site for latest pricing and bag storage details.
- Closing days
- Closed Tuesdays. Open approximately 10:00–21:00 (last entry 60 minutes before closing). Check the official website before visiting for the current schedule. Very busy on weekends and public holidays — book well ahead.
- Another way
- Kamiyacho Station (Hibiya Line H-06) is the closest station — 2 minutes via underground passage to Azabudai Hills Garden Plaza B. Roppongi-Itchome Station (Namboku Line N-06) is also about 6 minutes on foot.
- After you get off
- From Kamiyacho Station Exit 5, follow the underground passage directly to Azabudai Hills — about 2 minutes. From Roppongi Station Exit 1, walk south approximately 15 minutes.
