Toyosu Station → Shin-Toyosu Station (Yurikamome, ~2 min) → teamLab Planets entrance (walk ~1 min)

Shinjuku Stn →(Toei Shinjuku Line)→ Ichigaya Stn →(Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line)→ Toyosu Stn →(Yurikamome)→ Shin-Toyosu Stn: From Shinjuku Station, take the Toei Shinjuku Line to Ichigaya Station (about 5 min). Transfer to the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line and ride to Toyosu Station (about 15 min). Transfer to the Yurikamome Line one stop to Shin-Toyosu Station (about 2 min). teamLab Planets is about a 1-minute walk from the station exit. Total about 40 min including transfers (about 22 min on trains).
Return via Yurikamome to Toyosu, then Yurakucho Line: Reverse the journey: Shin-Toyosu → Toyosu (Yurikamome, ~2 min) → Ichigaya (Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line, ~15 min) → Shinjuku (Toei Shinjuku Line, ~5 min). The Yurikamome also connects to Odaiba and Toyosu Market if you want to combine the visit.

About the place

teamLab Planets TOKYO opened in Toyosu in July 2018 as a temporary exhibition and has since extended its run to the end of 2027. Visitors remove their shoes and socks in the locker area, then walk barefoot through large-scale immersive rooms. Some works involve water that can rise to knee height; in one, koi drawn in light swim across the surface and scatter into flowers when they bump into you. In January 2025 the museum expanded to about 1.5 times its original size, adding a new section called 'Forest' with more than 20 new artworks, across three zones: 'Athletics Forest', a climbing-and-jumping space; 'Future Park', a co-creation project; and 'Catching and Collecting Forest', where you catch and study extinct animals with a smartphone app. Unlike the Water area, the Forest is walked in comfortable shoes. It is a separate museum from teamLab Borderless in Azabudai Hills; Planets is the one where you walk barefoot through water.

How to enjoy it

Buy a timed-entry ticket before you go — none are sold at the venue, and popular slots can sell out. Leave your shoes and bags in the free lockers, and allow at least two hours: after the 2025 expansion, about 60% of visitors surveyed stayed two hours or more. Wear trousers you can roll above the knee, or borrow the free rental shorts. Photos and video are allowed, but no flash, and no selfie sticks or tripods 30 cm or longer.

Background & history

teamLab is an art collective founded in Tokyo in 2001, working at the intersection of art, science, technology and the natural world. Planets was conceived as a temporary exhibition when it opened in 2018, but its popularity led to repeated extensions. Between April 2023 and March 2024 it welcomed 2,504,264 visitors, which Guinness World Records certified as the most for any museum devoted to a single art group. The Toyosu site is scheduled to remain open until the end of 2027.

Before you go

Cash: Tickets are not sold at the venue: buy them in advance from the official online ticket store (convenience stores and travel agencies also sell them). Prices are dynamic and vary by date; the official site lists adults at 3,800 yen, junior high and high school students at 2,800 yen, children aged 4–12 at 1,500 yen, and under-4s free. The official store accepts credit cards, PayPay and UnionPay.
Good to know: Closed on some days (irregular). Hours vary by period — 8:00 to 22:00 as of October 2026, with last entry one hour before closing. Check the official site before you go.
Another way: Exit 7 of Toyosu Station on the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line is about a 10-minute walk from teamLab Planets — an option if you would rather walk than change to the Yurikamome.
After you get off: From the North Exit of Shin-Toyosu Station, it is about a 1-minute walk to the entrance.
